Boys Region D Playoffs
Here is how it looks to be shaping up
DI
1. Castlewood
2. Hurley
3. Appalachia
4. St. Paul
Those 4 slots are locked I believe. The only way it would change would be if St. Paul beat Castlewood in the CD Finals tonight and Hurley won the BDD. Then Hurley would move up to the 1 seed. Appalachia can't move up any higher than 3 even if both Hurley and Castlewood lose. St. Paul is in the CD finals, but they can't move up any higher than 4, nor drop any lower.
5. Twin Valley
6. Twin Springs
7. Pound
5-7 will be some sort of variations between Twin Valley, Twin Springs, and Pound. All 3 are playing in the consolation rounds of their tournaments. If all 3 win, then they stay in that order. But if one of them loses, they risk falling to 7. Ex. If Twin Springs loses to Coeburn tonight in the conoslation and Pound wins, then Pound moves up to 6 with TS falling to 7. The same can be said for Twin Valley. TV received more points for the regular season (6.5) than TS and Pound (4) but the point difference between 3rd and 4th in the tourny is enough to bump or drop any of those teams around those slots.
8. Thomas Walker or Rye Cove (I'm not sure who has the tie-breaker. I would assume TW does since they finished ahead of the Cove this season in the district. But the first tie-breaker is head to head and RC beat TW 2 out of 3 this season.
So the matchups would be:
1. Castlewood vs 8. TW/RC
2. Hurley vs 7. Pound
3. Appalachia vs 6. Twin Springs
4. St. Paul vs 5. Twin Valley
DII
1. Gate City
2. Powell Valley
3. Lebanon
Top 3 spots are locked in. Nothing can change with the outcome of tonight's LPD Championship. If PV loses, they still get 27 points which keeps them ahead of Lebanon. GC has the 1 seed locked so a PV win still keeps them 2.
4. Coeburn
5. Haysi
6. Lee High
These spots can change around. Lee High has already finished 3rd in the CMD, giving them 19 points. If both Coeburn and Haysi lose in their consolation games, they would recieve 18 points and vault Lee up to 4th. If all 3 finish 3rd in their tournaments, then they would finish in that order.
7. J.J. Kelly
8. Honaker
It gets just as crazy here. J.J. Kelly is the same boat as Lee High. A JJ Kelly win tonight gives them 19 points, but Lee has the tiebreaker against them with head to head wins. If Coeburn and Haysi were to both lose their consolation games and JJ Kelly wins, then Kelly could bump up to the 5th seed and drop Coeburn and Haysi down. Honaker has thrown a wrench in as well by reaching the BDD finals. If Honaker wins the BDD tournament against Hurley tonight, then they'll reach 18.5 points. The only chance Honaker has of not finishing as the 8th seed would be them winning tonight and having one of the teams ahead of them lose. If all of the 4-8 seeds win tonight, then they are seeded the way they'll be seeded tomorrow. If 1 of them loses, then that team would drop all the way to the 8th seed!
